Our Commitment
Wealth DCA wants its calculators and articles to be usable by everyone, including people with visual, hearing, motor or cognitive disabilities and people who use assistive technology such as screen readers, screen magnifiers, voice control or keyboard-only navigation.
Standard We Follow
We design and review the site against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG 2.2 includes every requirement of WCAG 2.0 and 2.1, so meeting it also meets WCAG 2.0 Level AA, which is published as the international standard ISO/IEC 40500:2012. Content is organised with descriptive headings throughout.
Conformance status: the content we create is designed to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA. Advertisements are supplied by a third party (Google) and are outside our control, so the site as a whole partially conforms. See Known Limitations below.
Accessibility Features
- Every page and control can be used with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus indicator that is never hidden behind the sticky header or other fixed bars.
- A "Skip to main content" link is the first item on every page.
- Pages use landmarks (header, navigation, main content, footer) and a logical heading structure.
- All form controls, sliders and buttons have text labels that screen readers announce, including the current value of each slider.
- Each chart has a text summary and a data table with the same figures, available from the "Show the chart data as a table" link below it.
- Updated calculator results and error messages are announced to screen readers.
- Text meets WCAG contrast ratios, and the borders of form fields and sliders are clearly visible, in both the light and the dark color mode, which you can switch with the button in the header.
- Buttons, links and slider handles are at least 24 by 24 pixels or well spaced, and every slider can also be set without dragging, using the keyboard, a click on the track, or by typing or selecting a value.
- Text can be enlarged to 200% with the browser's zoom, and pages work at a width of 320 pixels without scrolling sideways. Content stays readable when you increase line, letter or word spacing.
- Information is never conveyed by color alone; gains and losses are also shown with a + or − sign.
- The site has no time limits, no auto-playing audio or video, and no flashing content, and it respects your system's reduced-motion setting.
- Pages declare their language so screen readers use the correct pronunciation.
Compatibility
The site is built with standard, semantic HTML and is designed to work with current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, and with common screen readers including NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver and TalkBack. It does not rely on an accessibility overlay or plug-in.
Known Limitations
- Advertisements: ads are provided by Google AdSense. We cannot guarantee that their content is accessible. Ad areas are labelled "Advertisement" so you can identify and skip them.
- Chart tooltips: the pop-up values on the charts appear on mouse hover or touch only, and the Esc key closes them. The same figures are in the data table below each chart.
- External links: pages we link to, such as data sources and opt-out tools, are run by other organisations and may not meet the same standard.
If you find a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us so we can fix it.
